Join us at our annual St. Andrew's Day Family Ceilidh at Durty Nelly's!

There will be band performances by the Dartmouth & District Pipe Band, 36th Halifax Pipes and Drums, and the evening will finish off with some solo/duet kitchen piping.

Tickets are $10 ($15 at the door) and children 12 years and under are free (must be accompanied by a paying adult).

Proceeds from the event will help the organization purchase uniforms, instruments, and subsidize travel costs.

Dartmouth Pipe Band Gears Up For 5th Annual Jigs, Reels, & Beers

April 23, 2015, Halifax, NS – Dartmouth & District Pipe Band presents their 5th instalment of Jigs, Reels, & Beers on Sunday, May 3, 4:00PM to 7:00PM, at Durty Nelly's Irish Pub in Halifax.

Tickets for this family ceilidh are $15 ($20 at the door) and children 10 and under are free. Proceeds from the event will help the band get to the 2015 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Tickets are available online at dartmouthpipeband.com.

“Jigs, Reels, and Beers is a great afternoon of music and mingling,” says Zach Smith, lead drummer of the pipe band, guitar player, and singer/songwriter. “Many of our band members are accomplished musicians on instruments other than pipes or drums and this event showcases that.”

Jigs, Reels, and Beers will featuring performances from band members and surprise guests including piping, fiddle, bodhrán, vocals, drum fanfare, step dancing, and more.

“Our members are really looking forward to competing at the World Championships in Glasgow,” says Pipe Major Scott Long. "It's an awesome opportunity to both represent the Nova Scotia pipe band community and play along side some of the world's top pipe bands."

This will be the second time the band has travelled to Scotland to compete in the World Pipe Band Championships, deciding to return this summer as part of the organization's 50th anniversary celebrations.

For Immediate Release - 4th Annual Jigs, Reels and Beers

Dartmouth & District Pipe Band’s 4th Annual Jigs, Reels and Beers event is being held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 3pm to 7pm at Durty Nelly's Irish Pub, on the corner of Sackville and Argyle streets in Halifax. Tickets are $15.00 and include admission, live music, silent auction, door prizes, and more!

Jigs, Reels & Beers will feature performances from band members and guests including pipe bands, fiddles, vocals, drum fanfare, step dancing, and more. Guest performers include Maggie and Cassie MacDonald, The Worry Birds, and Greene School of Irish Dance and the afternoon will be hosted by Russell MacKenzie from FX101.9.

Proceeds from the event will help support the Dartmouth & District Pipe Band and school and are used to help the organization in the purchase of uniforms, instruments and to subsidize travel costs. Dartmouth & District Pipe Band is participating in Clean Nova Scotia’s Great Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at the Dartmouth Commons.

Throughout the summer months the band practices for competitions, parades and performances at the Dartmouth Commons, so to kick off the season they are volunteering to clean up the space for themselves and others to enjoy.

"We really wanted to get out into our community and do something a little different to kick off this year’s pipe band season," says event coordinator Heather Keddy.

"Choosing the Dartmouth Commons as our clean up location was obvious since we’ve been practicing there for the last few summers. We wanted to give something back to this beautiful community space."

They will be joining thousands of other Nova Scotians in making our province a little more beautiful this April, which is Earth Month.

The band welcomes players, friends, fans, and community members to join them in the clean up.

2012 Awards Night and AGM

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 7:30 PM is Dartmouth & District Pipe Band’s Annual Awards Night at St. James church hall. The evening is a chance for the band to congratulate its members on their achievements over the past year. There will be a short concert, awards will be presented and snacks will be provided. This event is free and open to the public. The Annual General Meeting is being held directly before the awards night festivities at 6:30 PM, also at St. James church hall. All parents and members are welcome to attend.

Note from the school: There will be no official classes on Wednesday, October 24, but we do hope that all students, instructors and families will join us that evening.

Raise a Little Hellp

Dartmouth & District Pipe Band has again agreed to open this year’s Raise a Little Hellp event on June 7th, 2012 – yeah!! Raise a Little Hellp is an annual Charity Event that features performances by award-winning artists in a highly personal and intimate setting, food, wine and silent auction. To date, Raise a Little Hellp has raised over $248,308.80 in funds for the Halifax chapter of Habitat for Humanity. First Competition and Mini Gathering Results

The grade 3 and 5 bands and our solo competitors are gearing up to head off to Anitgonish on Saturday for the first full competition of the year - The Antigonish Indoor Highland Games. Some of our pipers already warmed up to the competition season at this year's Citadel Mini Gatherings.
